Any Given Child

Survey Tools

The survey instruments and other tools listed are products of communities that have participated in the Any Given Child program. In some cases the instruments are original to the community; others have been adapted from the Kennedy Center Community Audit for Arts Education or the Community Audit Resource Assessment. In all cases, these instruments are available to the public to use as they are or with modifications.

The following resources will be helpful in implementing the Any Given Child program:

A Community Audit for Arts Education: Better Schools, Better Skills, Better Communities

In November 2000, the Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education Network developed an effective tool known as A Community Audit for Arts Education: Better Schools, Better Skills, Better Communities, to assist local education, community and cultural leaders in assessing the status of arts education in their schools and school districts, and to encourage community partnerships to strengthen and expand arts education for all students. While designed to encourage serious evaluation, it is most valuable as a vehicle for encouraging conversation and community planning in support of arts education.

Community Audit Resource Assessment

Developed in 2009 as a companion piece to the Community Audit for Arts Education, the Community Audit Resource Assessment is meant to more thoroughly inventory the schools' and community's arts education programs and resources. Where the Community Audit results in a prioritized list of Next Steps, the Assessment provides deeper insight into the resources available to put those Next Steps into action. The Assessment consists of two sections: a survey for local arts organizations; and surveys, site visits, and interviews for the local school district.
