  The Tokyo String Quartet plays quartets by Mozart, Szymanowski, and Dvorák on the renowned Paganini Stradivarius instruments in their Fortas Chamber Music Concerts debut.

• Orion String Quartet

  Orion String Quartet, fresh from last season's acclaimed performance of Bach's The Complete Art of the Fugue, returns with a reprise of the Fugue's Contrapunctus 1 and works by Schubert, Brahms, and Webern.

• Augustin Hadelich, violin with Rohan de Silva, piano

  Wed., Dec. 7, 2011, 7:30 PM
  With his poetic style and dazzling technique, violinist Augustin Hadelich is joined by pianist Rohan de Silva for sonatas by Beethoven, Poulenc, Zimmermann, and Brahms, as well as Sarasate's lively Zigeunerweisen.

• Weiss-Kaplan-Newman Trio

  The Weiss-Kaplan-Newman Trio, a piano trio hailed by the New York Times as "three strong voices, locked in sequence," brings a program with classic trios by Beethoven and Schubert, as well as contemporary works by Higdon and Newman.

• Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio

  The Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio plays one of Schubert's best-loved works, the "Trout" Quintet, and the DC premiere of a Fortas co-commission, Pulitzer Prize winner Ellen Taafe Zwilich's Quintet inspired by Schubert's.

• Fortas Chamber Music Concert: Christoph Eschenbach & Matthias Goerne, baritone

  A renowned Schubert interpreter, pianist Christoph Eschenbach, Music Director for the Kennedy Center and NSO, renews his partnership with baritone Matthias Goerne for Schubert's magnificent song cycle Winterreise.

• Fortas Chamber Music Concert: Christoph Eschenbach & Dan Zhu, violin

  Pianist Christoph Eschenbach, Music Director for the Kennedy Center and NSO, plays Mozart sonatas with violinist Dan Zhu, called "an artist of affecting humility and beautiful tone production" by The Strad magazine.

• Fortas Chamber Music Concert: Takács Quartet

  Budapest's Takács Quartet plays with a unique blend of drama, warmth, and humor. For their Fortas debut, they bring a program of quartets by Schubert and Bartók, plus Beethoven's staggering Opus 131.

• Fortas Chamber Music Concert: eighth blackbird: Pierrot Lunaire

  Grammy Award–winning eighth blackbird returns with a staged cabaret-opera version of Schoenberg's masterpiece Pierrot Lunaire, as well as works by Weill, Berg, and Perle.

  Hailed for "sheer unbelievable virtuosity" by the Achener Zeitung, The Morgenstern Trio makes its Kennedy Center debut with trios by Debussy, Brahms, and Leonard Bernstein.
