The Art of Film Music
The annual fundraising gala celebrates The Art of Film Music with a glamorous evening featuring Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg and John Williams.
For the 16th Annual Kennedy Center Gala, May 4 in the Concert Hall, the Kennedy Center salutes the collaborations of Hollywood composers and directors, celebrating the music of the silver screen. Hosted by Academy Award®-winning directors and Kennedy Center Honorees Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, this film and music evening features the National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Academy Award®-winning composer and Kennedy Center Honoree John Williams. Clips from some of Hollywood's greatest movies will be accompanied by the symphonic music that made these films come to life. It promises to be a star-studded evening that you won't want to miss.
As one of Washington’s premier benefit engagements, the annual Kennedy Center Gala provides critical funding to support the Center’s performances, education, and outreach initiatives. From commissioning and presenting productions for adults and students to sponsoring seminars and workshops for teachers and arts administrators, the Kennedy Center provides numerous opportunities to enrich the appreciation of the performing arts in our local community and across the country—all while presenting world-class performances throughout the year.
In addition to an outstanding performance, guests have the option to enjoy an entire weekend of events, featuring a private reception on Saturday evening. Sunday’s festivities begin with cocktails followed by an elegant gala dinner and performance in the Concert Hall. After the performance, the celebration continues with the ’Til Midnight dancing party. To make reservations, call (202) 416-8338 or fax (202) 416-8325.
